The Christian life doesn’t work right without Christ like love. Our spiritual gifts, wisdom and generosity find meaning in love. No love, no value. Love is the best way: love for God and love others. If you keep ready 1 Corinthians 13 you can read a description of Christian love.
God made you special. No one is like you. No one has the same gifts, talents, opportunities and abilities. God wants each of us to do what we can to help and build each other up in the family of faith. You’re Important. Your family and your faith community wouldn’t be the same without you.
Are you part of the body of Christ? Do you know that you are an important part of the faith community God has placed you in? God gives us helpful gifts to use to do His work here, to build up fellow Christians, to fulfill the mission God gives us. Since we are part of the body of Christ, we all need to do our part.
Our human bodies are made up of many different parts, but we only have one body. Each part must do its part for the body to function properly. The same is true for the Christian Church. We are all different, so we must all do our part for the body of Christ to function properly. Are you doing your part? I hope I’m doing mine.
The Christian Church is made up of many different people from many different nations, but we are one in Christ. We have many different gifts and abilities, but all of them come from the same Spirit of God. We speak many different languages, but share the same Baptism. Many = 1 in Jesus.
There are times we may wish we had different gifts or abilities. We think it would be great to have the spiritual gifts we don’t have. But we don’t get to pick those gifts. God decides who gets what so that all the spiritual gifts that are needed are given to His people. We need to recognize our gifts and use them for the good of others and to the glory of God.
The Holy Spirit gives gifts, talents, abilities to God’s people so that we can help one another, so that we can build up God’s family on earth, for the good of all. Do you know your gifts? Are you using them to help others? We all should.
Each Christian has his or her own spiritual gift, but they come from the same Spirit. We are gifted to serve in different ways, but we serve the same God. Having God at work in our lives is what counts.
The Holy Spirit gives faith and empowers Christians to confess that Jesus is their Lord and Savior. Faith is God’s gift to His people. Only those without faith can curse Jesus.
These verses conclude the chapter on the Lord’s Supper. Paul says think before you act. Think about how your actions will affect you relationship with God and with your fellow Christians.
