People who live by faith and try to obey God will ultimately be rewarded. People who reject God and disobey Him will ultimately be punished. Faith leads to life. Turning away from God leads to death. The reward of life is a gift from God, not something we can earn. Jesus gives a new life to those who believe in Him.
Yogi Berra said, “When you come to a fork in the road take it.” But which way should we go? As Jesus followers we should turn from evil and turn to good. We should try to take the same path Jesus took with His help and guidance. Which Way is a decision we have to make over and over again.
There are events called “A Taste Of ….” (fill in the blank with the location’s name). Some of the food is better than other. The Psalmist invites us to taste of the goodness of the Lord. We get a taste of the Lord by reading His Word. His Word shows us the way of life in Christ.
Do you believe God sends angels to guard and protect us? David did. God answers our prayers in different ways. There are times when He can send an angel to guard us and protect us from harm. That is just one more reason to give praise and thanks to God.
Our nation is in the midst of a crisis that most don’t see or recognize. It is a faith crisis. This Psalm tells us that there is joy in the nation whose people put their trust in the Lord. Our nation is turning away from God and putting their “faith” in other things. That doesn’t work. Put your hope in the Lord because His unfailing love surrounds His people.
Praise the Lord because He always keeps His word. Praise the Lord because He called creation into existence. Praise the Lord because His love fills the whole world. Praise the Lord!
Guilt can be painful, eating us up on the inside. Guilt can be controlling, affecting the things we think, say and do in a negative way. But guilt can also be forgiven by God. When we repent our sins, God forgives them and removes them. Then we can rejoice in the Lord.
We all face challenges that can lead to different responses. One is fear that we will not be able to deal with or even survive. Another is despair, giving up. But when we turn to the Lord in faith to help us, we can have courageous hope because God is with us to help us.
When the going gets tough, when people turn against you, when you don’t know where else to turn for help, turn to God. Remember who is God. Our enemies are not God. We are not God. Only the Lord is God. Trust Him to help and rescue you.
It isn’t easy being a Christian. We need God’s help to stand up to the challenges we face for our faith. God is the rock solid foundation we stand on for protection and strength when our faith is under attack by secularism that tries to deny God and the role of Christianity in modern day life or the growing influence of Islam that distorts the Biblical message. Allah is not the God of the Bible. Jesus is the Son of God and Savior from sin and death. Jesus is not one of Allah’s prophets as Islam claims.
